Ensuring that the office space is clean and well cared for has always been a high priority for any business. After all, any space that is being used regularly needs to be as clean and hygienic as possible. Whether the office is being used exclusively by employees or if it’s a space where clients and customers meet, ensuring that it’s a space that is safe to use by everyone has always been important.

Of course, that’s something that has only become more significant in the last several years. After all, the last couple of years of social distancing and quarantining have completely changed the way that many  look at public and shared spaces. That’s not even mentioning the fact that the risks from the pandemic are still ongoing in many places. This means that the importance of keeping the office space as clean and safe as possible is more important now that everyone is returning to work than ever. With that in mind, here is a short guide to ensuring that the office is clean, hygienic, and safe for everyone in it at all times.

Shared spaces

The most obvious spaces where the risk of things like contamination and the spread of viruses like COVID-19 are the ones that will be used by a lot of people. So shared working areas are going to be included in this, but it’s important to also consider amenities areas like shared cafeterias and break rooms. These areas are going to see a huge amount of traffic. For places where food is served, areas like serving counters and tables will need to be cleaned and disinfected carefully. Not only is this important for the spread of viruses like COVID-19 but it’s also incredibly important that any area where food is being served is as clean as possible at all times.

Restrooms

Another obvious space when it comes to keeping the office clean is the bathroom area. There is more than just needing to ensure that the environment is as clean as possible, including the faucets, counters, stalls, and urinals. It’s also vital to ensure that there are personal cleaning products available to anyone using those facilities. Automatic soap dispensers are a fantastic option since they allow anyone using them to clean themselves without having to come into contact with any surfaces. Hiring a cleaning team to also ensure that all of the door handles and locks are regularly cleaned. Not only will this keep anyone using the facilities safe but it will also ensure that they feel more comfortable in doing so.

Front facing areas

When it comes to hygiene, the health and safety of everyone in the workplace is the most important factor to consider. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s the only factor to consider. When it comes to creating a successful business, it’s vital to put the business’ best foot forward at all times. This means that any spaces that customers will be using need to be as clean as possible, not only to keep customers safe but also to ensure that they can see just how professional the business is. An unclean public space is one of the fastest ways to cause customers to lose a great deal of faith in the overall quality of the business.

Personal spaces

Employee desks are often the places where they spend the vast majority of their time and that means that it’s vital that they are kept as clean and hygienic as possible. This is especially important for the workforce to be in the best possible shape. Keeping the areas around employees desks clean is incredibly important but it’s also important to encourage employees to do the same. Encouraging things like keeping mess away from their desks, not eating at their computers, and keeping things like their computer keyboard and mouse clean and disinfected are just as important. Health, safety, cleanliness, and hygiene are everyone’s responsibility in a business and creating a culture at work that cares about these things is essential.

When it comes to keeping the office space hygienic and safe, the key is to remember that it really isn’t possible to cut any corners. If this is not a priority, then the health of employees and customers, and the business as a whole is at risk. To conclude, it is important to make sure that a business puts as much time and energy as possible into keeping the office clean and safe for everyone in it.
